Thank you for your interest in Owl Hill Learning Academy in Lititz! We’ve rounded up some common questions we receive about our early childhood education services. Feel free contact us at any time with additional questions, requests for assistance, or to schedule a tour.

Please note that these FAQs pertain to our programs at our Lititz location. If your child is enrolled in Pre-K Counts in of our partner school districts, please contact the coordinator for your school with any questions.

Early Education and Child-Care Services

+ What age groups does Owl Hill Learning Academy serve?

Owl Hill Learning Academy serves children who are 3 years of age to 11/12 years of age, depending on what age your child is when they enter middle school. 

+ What programs and services does Owl Hill Learning Academy offer?

 During the school year, Owl Hill Learning Academy operates and offers:

  • 3 preschool classrooms (combination of Pre-K Counts, private pay, and ELRC funded children)
  • Before/After extended child-care options for full time children
  • Before and/or After School Program for School Aged children from Warwick School District
    • Warwick School District School Bus will pick up and drop off children to our building that attend Kissel Hill Elementary School
    • Owl Hill School Van provides transportation at an additional transportation cost at the following times:
      • Before school drop off to Bonfield or Lititz Elementary Schools
      • After school pick up at Beck, Bonfield, and possibly Lititz Elementary. These schools vary from school year to school year depending on where current OHLA students attend. 
+ How much is tuition at Owl Hill Learning Academy?

+ Is there a sibling discount?

Yes. We are pleased to offer a sibling discount to the oldest child enrolled.

+ What is the free PA Pre-K Counts preschool program and do you offer this program at your center?

Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts (PA PKC) is a state-funded program that offers free pre-kindergarten education to eligible children in Pennsylvania. Owl Hill Learning Academy offers Pre-K Counts in 5 school districts in Lancaster County:

+ Do you provide any meals and/or snacks during the day?

Yes. Owl Hill Learning Academy provides a breakfast and an afternoon snack at no additional charge to the families for preschoolers (during school year and summer) and school age children (during days off from school and summer). Parents need to pack a lunch for their child that is peanut/tree-nut free. The meals/snacks your child receives will also depend on your child’s schedule.

+ What is your teacher-to-child ratio?
  • For preschool age children (ages 3 – 5 years of age), the teacher-to-child ratio is 1 teacher:10 children.
  • For school age children (ages 5 – 11/12 years of age), the teacher-to-child ratio is 1 teacher:12 children.
+ How many children are in a classroom?

The number of children in a classroom varies and ranges from 15 to 17 children.

+ Do you have an outdoor playground or play space for the children?

Yes! Owl Hill Learning Academy has a very spacious and enriching outdoor playground with:

  • Large grassy area for running, playing soccer, football, teacher-directed games, etc.
  • Playground climber with slides, ladders and tunnel
  • 2 sets of swings
  • Mulch pit for the kids to dig and use play equipment
  • Covered pavilion that allows for a shady, outdoor learning area all year long
  • Lots of playground balls, blocks for building, trucks, etc.
  • Kid garden boxes for growing vegetables and herbs to learn how things grow, how to take care of plants, and to help them try new foods.

Staff Qualifications

+ What are the educational qualifications of your lead teachers?

All Owl Hill Learning Academy lead Pre-K teachers have a bachelor’s degree or higher in teaching, as well as an Early Childhood Certification for their PA Teaching Certificate.  All current Pre-K Teachers are working to convert their PA Level 1 Teaching Certificate to a Level 2 Certificate.

+ What training does your staff have in first aid and CPR?

Absolutely. All Owl Hill Learning Academy staff have a current and valid Pediatric First Aid/CPR training.  These trainings are valid for 2 years, meaning that all staff renew and update their trainings as needed to maintain a valid Pediatric First Aid/CPR training.

Licensing and Accreditation

+ Do you hold a valid child-care license from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services?

Yes, Owl Hill Learning Academy currently holds a valid Department of Human Services (DHS) child care license.

+ Pennsylvania has a Keystone Star rating for early learning/child care centers.  Are you participating in the Keystone STARS quality rating system?

Yes! Owl Hill Learning Academy is a Keystone Star 4 rated early learning / child care center.
